Ticking

Remember when you were young, you couldn't wait to grow up? The years seem to crawl by for you. You're always 'too young' for something. There's always something you wanted to do, but couldn't because of your age.

This is especially true when you're the youngest in the family. My brother is five years older than me and I am considered one of the youngest among my cousins. When we were younger, there would be times when they would not let me join their games because I am not yet a certain age. The specific age will always be 'coincidentally' one or two years older than my age at that time.

There were times when being the younger sibling automatically makes me the 3rd class citizen at home. I remember times when I wanted to go out for movies and my parents don't let me. I would say, "How come ah ko can go out and I cannot?" The answer was always the same: "He how old, you how old?" Of course, my parents meant well. They didn't want me to become one of those kids who never stay home from a young age. But at that time, I couldn't wait to be eighteen - supposedly the age of true freedom.

Eighteen was two years ago. They say when you cross the threshold of twenty years of age, you will be dreading every birthday that comes after.

Today, I am twenty years and a month.

And the dread is very real.

Side Order: Happy Be-Early Birthday, Jason!

Mine will be at the end of this year. Yes, dread is real indeed.

u think about your age, the more you will feel yourself being older.

Psychology thing.

It's like how you fear the increasing probability you were seen with someone you shouldn't be seen with.
