Samurai

Last Tuesday's lunch was in the city.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we have three hour breaks between classes. Usually, I spend the three hours sleeping or doing homework and then sleep in the library. Like back in Swinburne Library lar. Old habits die hard.

Andrew has been telling me of a place in the city that makes one of the best Japanese Curries around. Hearing the way he described the curry conjured images of food from Heaven in my head! I told him that he MUST bring me there and so we decided to take a bus to the city for lunch.

A short walk from the bus stop and...

Here it is!

Inside, I found out that the place is run by real Japanese. And that to work there, you must be able to speak Japanese! The girl who took our orders at the counter was clearly Japanese. Quite cute also.

I ordered Katsu Chicken Curry. It's $6.00, which is considered cheap in comparison to the insane prices charged at other Asian restaurants.

Here's my six-dollar Katsu Chicken Curry.

Hehe. Actually, it's just the waiting card for my dish. There are cute cute cartoons at the back of the card somemore.

Chicken cartoon for Katsu Chicken Curry and...

Piggy cartoon for Katsu Pork Curry!

Here's the REAL Katsu Chicken Curry.

Two minutes later:

Damn shiok la! I couldn't get enough of it. The deep fried chicken was juicy and tender to the bite and perfectly complemented by the gravy. While the gravy doesn't taste like Malaysian curry at all (expected lar), it has its own appeal. To our standards, it isn't the least spicy. It leans more towards sweet and salty.

The portion is considered 'just right' - neither too small or too large. None of that matters, though. One taste of the curry and you know that, no matter how big the portion is, you'll be craving for more!

Andrew's "Special-C". Chicken with rice and potatoes and salad. Inferior to the curry, he said.

And so a new eating place has been found. I'll be seeing you again soon, Mr. Samurai!

Side Order: Happy April's Fools! Hope you guys have fun pranking and/or being pranked on. We get half the day off.

Side Order: Happy Be-Early Birthday to Alvin Nichol! Really seems like there's a birthday greeting in every post!
