The videos he posted there were quite informative! Do you know?
- 80 percent of Africa's 700 million people live on less than $2 a day. That's equivalent to around RM 6.50. So.. A bowl of kolo mee and teh-o-peng for breakfast and dinner. No lunch.
- One in three Africans are malnourished. That means that by average, every African family will have at least one (and usually more) who is prone to sickness and death.
- Nearly 30 million people in Africa are infected with HIV.

It saddens me to see that, in our modern world where kids as young as seven brandish about their brand new N95s and PDA Phones, there are still parts of the world where a child is envied by his peers to have a plastic doll, although the doll is missing a head and a leg.
It is distressing to see that many of us take for granted of the food we savor daily - sometimes even refusing to eat when the dish doesn't meet our expectations - when many families in the world consider themselves lucky to be able to get by with dry bread and cabbage soup.
And we whine about our hardships everyday when there are people in the world who live through days of famine and droughts and epidemics without a single complaint.
Yes, I admit that I also do all of the above. I, too, am often ignorant of the things I should be grateful for.
That's why the past few days, I've gone crazy about Freerice.com! Found out about it through Jonathan Lau.
What's Freerice.com all about? Well, it's a charity website that spends all of its profits in donating rice and contributing towards the global effort of alleviating world hunger. It works like this. There is a word game there for visitors, and for every correct answer that a visitor gets, advertisers will pay Freerice.com, and the money in turn is used to purchase the rice.
That's why, for the past few days, I've been playing the word game like mad. Because I want to help out the world too. =)
So, people! It's 20 grains per correct answer - a small amount, that - but it costs nothing to play, so what have you to lose, right? You probably spend most of your waking time on the Net anyway.
And what's more?
Your rewards will be in Heaven.

Its a good thing to see someone raising awareness for once.
Thanks budday
The worst part is that the world ISN'T short on food despite the scare tactics used by those who push for genetically-modified crops (Patuzzi, 2007), which means that the food is available but merely inaccessible to the people in poverty.
But yeah, projects like FreeRice does create a flow of resources to bring them where they're needed. =) Another famous one is (RED). Heard of that one?

yeap yeap. 100% true. Sometimes we are just so grumpy. Keep on complaining of the quality and quantity of the food. So "qi cham" to satisfy our expectation nya.
Therefore, to conclude let's just give thanks of what we have and bless others of what we have too.
New resolution for 2008: Less complain and finish our meal QUEITLY.
Blank,
You're doing no less yourselves =) Pahala pahala.
Axfangli,
I agree. To those who have too much, what's there to lose in giving some to those who need it? The world is cruel. (RED)? Hmm. Don't think I've heard of it!
Johnson,
I didn't mean it THAT seriously lar. What I was implying was that although complaining is part of human nature, we should always be grateful for what we have.
I just cannot believe Johnson said that after he left the food 75% untouched at All Joy.
And, I'm having no problems doubting his resolution. =D
The more rice you throw away, the more pimples you will get (Childhood superstition, no date).
I knew about project (RED) from er.. Apple. Their iPod le. And what Oprah Winfrey.
is it same (RED)?
Eric,
You got the superstition all wrong. It's supposed to be the more rice you throw away, the more pimples there will be on your FUTURE SPOUSE.
Daniel,
Erm. I really have no idea. I really dono what (RED) is all about =P
What does it have to do with your spouse when you throw your rice away? That's so unfair! It shows no connection at all bah. Superstitious stuff.. They don'y really think twice before they say it out. I'll get to go to the page when I'm Internet available.
Ezekiel,
Last time people nothing to do at home ba. No tv, no radio. So, what else to do but make up these stories? Also, they need to educate their kids to not waste food! Food was scarce in the olden days, okay...
The only other alternative to midnight activities is a word that starts with 'S' and rhymes with 'pacts' - that's why the older generation got so many siblings.
I hope the pimple thing is really nothing more than a superstition.
Cause if it does, you are one of the worst victim. lol!
Eric & Ezekiel,
I hope it's a superstition too. Because when I was young, I used to leave LOTS of grains of rice on my plate...
