On Stage

Last Saturday, the Choir Club performed during the March Intake Orientation. I must say, we weren't too bad! Here's a video of our performance. I hope you enjoy it as well as we performers do!

Listen out for the 'chao sia' voices. Yes, there are some! But do cut us some slack yea. We're a pretty new club, and many of us do not have a background of singing. We are amateurs! But we try our best.

The performance was quite successful. If you listened carefully, you will hear the audience applausing for the girls, not the guys during our performance. Before the performance, we feared for a worst-case scenario: boos. You see, we only had two practice sessions of about two hours each, and some of us had trouble mastering that song. It's sung in a weird key after all. We even went to school extremely early on the morning of the orientation just to get it right.

We learned a lesson, though. The just-woke-up voice is not a singing-worthy one. More croaks than tones.

Here's something I couldn't resist not pointing out.

If you listen very very carefully, you can pick out a very distinctive voice at the beginning the guys' part. Scroll up and play the video again. Then, when the guys sing 'Sing once again with me...', listen really carefully. You will hear a voice that stands out from the rest. Guess whose voice is that? No hints here. *coughJohnsoncough*

We've had trouble matching our volume to his for a long time now. We try, but his voice is just too powerful! I guess that's what you get when you talk a lot in class. Crap, cold jokes, bullshit - you name it, he's got it. Don't kill me, Johnson. =P

This time, the orientation bagged us 30-40 new members. Pretty good, aye? Let's keep it up, people! We'll keep bringing in new people and keep training until we can beat the choir of SMK Batu Lintang.

We'll beat them with our Phantom of the Opera in double high C. Start screaming, guys.

Laura,
If we wanna beat them, we must sing that song again... In double high C. And make it look easy. So start training! =P

Kacwey,
Johnson is soprano, but Kwang Yang is BEYOND soprano. He went ultrasonic! Hahaha... And yea, the girls were good. I was standing behind Ai Ling and gosh, I almost fell down in ecstasy then and there =P

Johnson,
I am sorry to keep blackening your name. But you see, I feel COMPELLED to tell the truth. So all your cerita busuk come out lor. Hahaha... I know, my voice like duck. And yours isn't like frog, but like elephant =P

So sayang la didn't get to play Way Back Into Love with you on stage. I was so looking forward on stage. Hope there's a next time - when our singers are more ready~

Some guy once said he was untalented. Now he's in a choir singing the Phantom of the Opera!

(Opera is not rap. It actually requires singing)

I wonder who that somebody was.

Eric,
Nasib baik got this cameraman aa. If not, there would be no video record of this and the world would have missed the pleasure of basking in our greatness.

Johnson,
I don't think Fara's the right choice for that song. She's more a Rihanna type of singer. not Toni Braxton or Mariah Carey. Hahaha...

Sam,
I still am untalented. If you attend our practice sessions, you will agree with me. Haha.. There are ducks quacking in the background of the song. That would probably be me.

And I take your last sentence as sarcasm. Haha...

Eric aa... you try handling two cameras at the same time.

Anwar,
Although Eric complains, I don't. He doesn't appreciate what you do, but I do.
